Black EVA Foam SGS RoHS Test Report | Full Data, Limits and How to Read It

This page is the SGS RoHS test report for black EVA foam and how to read it. It is a hazardous substances (RoHS) report, not an anti-static performance or surface resistance report. For buying or custom anti-static EVA foam (6-compartment boxes, adhesive-backed custom versions), see the EVA foam / anti-static foam product page; for how to read anti-static foam specifications, see the anti-static foam selection guide.

Black EVA foam RoHS test report: full data and how to read it

The last page of a RoHS report just says “Pass”, but earlier pages contain the method basis, detection limits and decision rule, which auditors may ask about. This page lists the full SGS report for JIAHON black EVA foam and explains what each field actually means.

1. Report details

ItemDetails
LaboratorySGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Branch
Report no. (Chinese)SZXEC26004634702
Report no. (English)SZXEC26004634701
SGS job no.SZP26-038261
Sample nameBlack EVA foam
Sample received10 August 2026
Test period10 to 13 August 2026
Report date13 August 2026
Test basisEU RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Annex II and amending Directive (EU) 2015/863
ConclusionPass

The Chinese and English reports are two documents with different numbers (ending 02 for Chinese, 01 for English) sharing the same SGS job number. If the English version is required, provide the one ending …701, not a translation of the Chinese version. When requesting it, state which language version you need.

2. Test methods

Performed per the IEC 62321 series, using ICP-OES / AAS, UV-Vis and GC-MS:

MethodSubstances
IEC 62321-4:2013+AMD1:2017Mercury (Hg)
IEC 62321-5:2013Lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd)
IEC 62321-7-2:2017Hexavalent chromium Cr(VI)
IEC 62321-6:2015Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)
IEC 62321-8:2017Phthalates DEHP, BBP, DBP, DIBP

The report notes that the IEC 62321 series is equivalent to the EN 62321 series. If an audit checklist cites EN numbers, point to this note.

3. Full test data

All units are mg/kg (equivalent to ppm). ND means not detected, below the method detection limit (MDL) for that item.

SubstanceRoHS limitMDLResult
Lead (Pb)10002ND
Mercury (Hg)10002ND
Cadmium (Cd)1002ND
Hexavalent chromium Cr(VI)10008ND
PBB (sum)1000—ND
Mono- to deca-bromobiphenyl (10 congeners)—5All ND
PBDE (sum)1000—ND
Mono- to deca-bromodiphenyl ether (10 congeners)—5All ND
Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP)100050ND
Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP)100050ND
Dibutyl phthalate (DBP)100050ND
Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP)100050ND

Note that the cadmium limit is 100 mg/kg, one tenth of the others. It is the only one of the ten RoHS limits that is not 1000, and a field to watch when filling in audit forms.

4. Three easily missed report notes

  • ND is not zero. ND correctly means “below the method detection limit”. The MDL for lead is 2 mg/kg, so strictly the lead result is “below 2 mg/kg”, not “lead-free”. When communicating externally, state ND with the MDL rather than simplifying to “zero”.
  • Timing for the four phthalates. The report states that from 22 July 2021, the restrictions on DEHP, BBP, DBP and DIBP apply to medical devices (including in vitro diagnostic medical devices) and monitoring and control instruments (including industrial monitoring and control instruments). If your products are in these categories, these four must be tested, not just the first six.
  • The decision rule is simple acceptance. Per ILAC-G8:09/2019, the report uses a simple acceptance rule (w = 0) for a binary decision. In plain terms, measurement uncertainty is not subtracted from the limit: a value not exceeding the limit passes, without considering that uncertainty could put the true value over. If the customer’s specification requires passing after deducting uncertainty (guard-banded decision), the report’s decision basis differs from that requirement; confirm before submitting.

5. Scope of this report

  • Covers only the submitted sample: the report states this. Changes of part number, raw material source, color or formulation should be reconfirmed.
  • No partial reproduction: the report may not be partly reproduced without SGS’s written permission. Provide the complete report, not just the conclusion page.
  • Purpose: the report states its purpose and scope of use; see the full report.
  • Validity: the report date is 13 August 2026. Whether the customer limits report age is set by the customer’s specification; confirm before submitting.

FAQ

Why is the cadmium limit so low? Among the ten RoHS restricted substances, cadmium’s maximum concentration is 100 mg/kg (0.01%), while the other nine are 1000 mg/kg (0.1%). This is set by the directive itself. An audit form listing cadmium at 1000 is wrong.

Can ND be described as “free of”? Not recommended. ND means below the method detection limit; the correct statement is “below X mg/kg (MDL)”. Auditors may ask about the MDL; the figures are in the MDL column in section 3.

The report covers only ten substances; what if the customer requires halogen-free? RoHS does not cover total halogens (fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine) or PFAS. Halogen-free is a separate requirement needing a separate test; a RoHS report cannot replace it.

Is the simple acceptance rule too lenient? It depends on which decision rule the customer’s specification uses. This report uses simple acceptance per ILAC G8, without measurement uncertainty; guard-banded decisions include it. If the customer explicitly requires the latter, confirm with the laboratory before submitting and request the corresponding decision rule.

Can the Chinese and English versions replace each other? The content is the same, but they are separate documents with different numbers. If the customer needs English, provide the English report; a self-translated Chinese report is not a laboratory-issued document.

Can EVA foam and PE foam share a report? No. The report covers only the submitted sample, and they are different materials and formulations. Each needs its own report.

How do I request the SGS RoHS report for black EVA foam? When requesting a quote, ask for the report to be supplied with the goods and state whether you need the Chinese (number ending 02) or English (ending 01) version; both share the same SGS job number (see section 1).
