How to choose by pore density and thickness, for air compressors, air conditioners and equipment enclosures.
The two key choices: ppi (pores per inch) sets the filtering fineness, and thickness sets the dust-holding capacity and the air resistance. Higher ppi means finer pores and finer filtering, but more resistance; thicker foam holds more dust and lasts longer. Getting the combination right balances filtering against maintenance intervals.
Basic specifications
| Item | Specification |
|---|---|
| Size | 20 × 30 cm (can be cut) |
| Thickness | 3 / 5 / 10 mm |
| Density | 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50 / 60 ppi |
Choosing ppi
| ppi | Pores | Typical uses |
|---|---|---|
| 15–20 | Large pores, low resistance | Air compressor intake pre-filters, dust covers for large machine housings |
| 25–30 | Medium, general purpose | Air conditioner pre-filters, enclosure front panels, electrical cabinet vents |
| 35–40 | Finer, higher efficiency | Air purifiers, range hood filters, intakes of precision equipment |
| 45–60 | Fine, higher precision | Dust covers for precision electronics, projector intake filters, auxiliary lab filtration |
Choosing thickness
| Thickness | Character | Where used |
|---|---|---|
| 3 mm | Ultra-thin, for tight spaces | Laptop vents, gaps in slim housings, instrument vents |
| 5 mm | Thin, general, low resistance | Small air conditioner outlets, general equipment dust covers |
| 10 mm | Standard, high dust capacity | Air compressor intakes, cabinet ventilation |
Material
- Low odor, good air permeability
- High resilience: recovers quickly after compression
- Easy to cut: standard 20 × 30 cm sheets can be cut to the opening of your equipment
- Washable and reusable: clean and refit, lowering consumable cost
