ESD antistatic brushes

Material and how they protect against static.

The bristles are PA nylon, which is somewhat conductive, so static generated where bristles touch components drains away while dust is brushed off. The handle is antistatic PP, so static is not passed from the operator’s hand to the brush. Cleaning therefore does not put ESD-sensitive components at risk — which is why these brushes are standard cleaning tools on SMT lines and in semiconductor packaging.

Choosing: for daily PCB surface care, use U-shaped nos. 10–12 (many tufts, efficient). For gaps between components and inside connectors, use no. 2 (with ball) or no. 8 (curved). For gaps in equipment housings, use no. 14 (curved pointed).
