Squeegees are bought in two ways — as a complete set with holder, or as blades only — and the difference lies in installation cost and flexibility. This page describes the compatible 400 mm squeegee set with holders for GKG printers, and the practical basis for deciding when to replace the whole set and when to change only the blade.
A complete set with holder suits first-time installation or a damaged holder; if the holder is still in good condition, changing only the blade costs less.

Why a complete set: it can be taken out and installed straight away, with no wait for blades to be bought separately and assembled. With a spare complete set on hand, squeegee changeover downtime is shorter — useful for fast maintenance on high-utilisation lines.
When to replace
| Condition | Recommended action | Whole set or blade only |
|---|---|---|
| Blade edge chipped or curled | Replace immediately to avoid stencil damage | Depends on holder condition |
| Uneven paste thickness or stringing after printing | Check squeegee pressure settings first, then assess blade wear | Usually blade only |
| Holder screws loose or holder body bent | Replace the whole set | Whole set |
| Preventive replacement on the plant PM cycle | Keep a whole set ready for shorter changeover downtime | Whole set (spares management) |
| Accumulated print count exceeds the plant limit | Change the squeegee according to SOP | Follow the equipment maker’s advice |
Which GKG machines take 400 mm: GKG has many printer models. 400 mm fits some mainstream models but is not universal across the whole GKG range, so check the effective length of your squeegee holder or the machine maker’s parts spec before buying.
Not cut from stencil-shop offcuts: some squeegee blades are cut from stencil-maker scrap sheet; they cost less, but hardness and edge flatness are less consistent. These blades are formed from spring steel with a ground edge, which helps keep hardness consistent from batch to batch and reduces print quality variation caused by an uneven edge.
