DisplayPort versions and bandwidth
DisplayPort is the main output on PC graphics cards and has largely replaced HDMI on high-end workstations. This page covers three LINDY DisplayPort cables: a DP 1.4 male-to-female extension cable, a DP 1.3 male-to-male cable and a mini-DisplayPort male-to-male cable. Before ordering, check which DP version your graphics card and monitor each support, then choose the model for your setup.
Specification comparison
| Model | Connectors | DP version | Bandwidth | Max resolution | Jacket / shielding |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ANTHRA DP 1.4 male-to-female extension | DP male → female | 1.4 | 32.4 Gbps | 8K@60Hz | Black / aluminum-magnesium braid, 85% coverage |
| CROMO DP 1.3 male-to-male | DP male → male | 1.3 | — | 4K@60Hz | Gray round cable / gold-plated contacts, 3 m |
| CROMO mini-DP male-to-male | mini-DP male → male | 1.2 | 21.6 Gbps | 4K@60Hz | Chrome-plated ABS / gold-plated contacts |
How to choose
ANTHRA DP 1.4 male-to-female extension: for extending a cable that is too short. Signal loss increases with each joint, so we suggest no more than two cables in series. It supports full DP 1.4 speed (32.4 Gbps), 8K@60Hz and HDR, with complete aluminum-magnesium braid shielding.
CROMO DP 1.3 male-to-male: 3 m long, gray round cable with gold-plated contacts, for 4K@60Hz output — office presentations and standard desktop-to-monitor connections.
CROMO mini-DP male-to-male: mini-DP ports are common on 2013–2019 MacBooks, some Thunderbolt 2 devices and older graphics cards. Both ends are mini-DisplayPort male, with DP 1.2 electrical specifications and 4K@60Hz support, in a chrome-plated ABS housing with gold-plated contacts.
Note on DP cable length: for passive DP 1.4 cables (32.4 Gbps) we suggest no more than 3 m. For 8K output over 5 m or more, consider an active fiber DP cable; the LINDY adapter cable range includes options.
Selection by application
| Application | Suggested model | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Existing DP cable too short | ANTHRA DP 1.4 male-to-female extension | 32.4 Gbps, HDR, full shielding against EMI |
| Office 4K@60Hz presentations | CROMO DP 1.3 male-to-male (3 m) | Enough length for most desks |
| Older MacBooks / mini-DP devices | CROMO mini-DP male-to-male | mini-DP on both ends, 4K@60Hz |
