USB Type-C cable specification levels
USB Type-C is the main port on new laptops, phones and workstations, but cables with the same Type-C connector can differ widely — from 480 Mbps to 20 Gbps, with or without PD charging or OTG support. These depend on the cable’s internal electrical specification, not its appearance. Each LINDY USB Type-C cable is clearly labeled with its specification to help you choose correctly.

How to choose
PD smart current chip: models with a PD (Power Delivery) chip, such as the ANTHRA USB 3.2 Gen2 C-to-A male + PD chip, let the charger identify what the device needs and adjust voltage and current, improving fast-charging compatibility. If you only transfer data and do not need charging, a model without the PD chip is enough and usually costs less.
OTG model: the ANTHRA USB 3.2 Gen1 C-to-A female (OTG) is only 15 cm long and is designed for connecting a phone or tablet directly to a USB-A flash drive or mouse. It is a short adapter cable, not an extension cable.
Do you need Gen2x2 (20 Gbps)? Both ends — laptop and external drive — must support USB 3.2 Gen2x2 to reach 20 Gbps. Some external SSDs support it; if you regularly back up large image files or transfer engineering logs, the Black USB 3.2 Gen2x2 C-to-C covers that need.
ANTHRA vs Black: the ANTHRA series has 85% shielding with phosphor bronze contacts and 24K gold plating, for high-interference environments. The Black series has nickel connectors with gold-plated contacts and 75% shielding, for office use at a slightly lower cost.
