Mitsubishi Electric servo amplifiers are divided by generation into four main series: MR-J2 (second generation), MR-J3 (third generation), MR-J4 (fourth generation) and MR-JE (entry-level industrial). Communication is either pulse train or SSCNET (high-speed optical network). Model suffix A = pulse train type (for PLC or CNC pulse output); B = SSCNET type (for multi-axis synchronization with Mitsubishi motion controllers). This page covers 12 common models, 0.1–3 kW.

Selection points
- Pulse train type (A suffix): works with pulse output from any brand of PLC; highly versatile, for single-axis or applications without multi-axis synchronization
- SSCNET type (B suffix): works with Mitsubishi motion controllers (Q series, iQ-R) for precise multi-axis synchronization over high-speed optical communication, for CNC, robots and other coordinated multi-axis applications
- MR-J4 vs. MR-JE: J4 is the flagship generation with a 22-bit high-resolution encoder; JE is the entry-level industrial type at lower cost, for standard positioning
- Generation matching: each amplifier generation must be used with the matching servo motor generation (J2 ↔ HC, J3 ↔ HF, J4 / JE ↔ HG); they cannot be mixed
