PP cotton filter cartridge (polypropylene melt-blown, coreless), 40 in (1016 mm) × 10 μm, made of food-grade polypropylene, OD 60–63 mm, ID 30 mm or 28 mm, 440 g per piece. The pore structure is dense and even, filtration efficiency is above 98%, and it resists acids, alkalis and organic solvents. It suits pre-filtration and intermediate filtration for cleanroom cooling water, SMT / EMS / PCB process water and general water treatment in chemical plants.
PP filter cartridges are one of the high-volume MRO consumables in electronics manufacturing. From the end of cleanroom cooling water mains and SMT machine cooling loops to PCB process water and general facility water, almost every water line has PP cartridges for pre-filtration or intermediate filtration. Cartridges are replaced regularly, and a plant may buy hundreds to thousands a month.
We supply MRO filter consumables to SMT / EMS / semiconductor / chemical plants. The 40-inch 10 μm PP cartridge is a common spec; material certificates, flow curves and filtration test reports can be provided.

Features
PP melt-blown cartridges have dense, even pores and high filtration efficiency. Because particles bridge inside the pore channels, even particles smaller than the pores are trapped, giving over 98% efficiency. The cartridge itself is very clean and does not contaminate the water. It resists acids, alkalis and organic solvents, and is strong enough not to deform at 0.4 MPa differential pressure.
Applications
40-inch 10 μm PP cartridges are common where high flow and medium filtration rating are needed:
1. Cleanroom cooling water loops. End-of-main filtration on cleanroom HVAC cooling water and machine chiller loops. The 10 μm cartridge removes suspended particles and helps prevent scale on heat exchangers and pipe walls; the 40-inch length suits high-flow mains and reduces change frequency.
2. PCB / SMT process water pre-filtration. Pre-treatment of PCB etching and cleaning water or SMT machine cooling water, as the intermediate stage in multi-stage filtration (followed by a finer final cartridge).
3. General facility water treatment. Removal of suspended solids in facility supply and recycled water, where high flow is needed but micron-level final filtration is not.
Selection notes
| Item | Notes |
|---|---|
| Flow | Evaluate by housing and number of cartridges in parallel; ask the maker for flow curves |
| Replacement | Suggested every 3–5 months; replace earlier as differential pressure rises or suspended solids increase |
| Inner diameter | Confirm the housing ID (30 mm or 28 mm) before ordering |
| Pressure | Keep operating differential pressure within 0.4 MPa to avoid deformation |
Multi-stage filtration: coarse first, then fine
A typical PCB / semiconductor process water train: raw water (tap or well) → 50 μm coarse → 5 μm intermediate (main pre-treatment) → 1 μm fine (protects downstream) → 0.22 μm final (process water). The 10 μm cartridge on this page works as an intermediate stage.
Why multi-stage: it protects downstream stages, spreads the load and keeps costs down. Fit a differential pressure gauge on each stage; when one stage’s pressure rises, change only that stage.
Replacement, purchasing and stock
1. When to replace: (1) differential pressure (most reliable): new cartridge 0.02–0.05 MPa, must replace at 0.15–0.2 MPa; (2) flow down 30–50%, must replace. Keep a log of each cartridge’s cumulative flow and differential pressure.
2. What to ask for in a purchase spec: material certificate, filtration rating test report (PSD retention), flow curve (differential pressure vs flow), chemical compatibility table (pH range), maximum temperature and pressure, end type (DOE / SOE / 222 / 226), length and diameter, and batch traceability.
3. Stock tips: cartridges are high-volume MRO items with many SKUs (material × rating × length × end type). Keep a BOM of which cartridge each machine and process line uses, monthly usage and safety stock, so you never have to stop a process because a cartridge could not be ordered in time.
※ This page covers the 40-inch 10 μm PP cartridge. Other types — pleated PP, string-wound, sintered, activated carbon, PTFE membrane, PES membrane — and other ratings can be quoted.
