If your work involves strong acids (hydrochloric, sulfuric, hydrofluoric), strong alkalis (NaOH) or organic solvents, PTFE tweezers are the safe choice. Stainless steel can slowly corrode in strong acids and release metal ions that contaminate high-purity reagents or wafer surfaces; PTFE is inert to almost all chemicals, so it does not react, stick or contaminate.
If the working temperature is above 200 °C and there are no strongly corrosive chemicals, stainless steel tweezers are stronger; if you face both high temperature and chemical corrosion, choose the standard or serrated PTFE type.

About PTFE
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is one of the most chemically inert polymers available, inert to strong acids (including hydrofluoric acid), strong alkalis and most organic solvents. Its surface energy is very low (about 18–19 mN/m), so liquids don’t cling to it, avoiding reagent residue and cross-contamination. Its service range is -200 °C to +260 °C, and it does not deform in long-term use below 200 °C.
PTFE is slightly soft, which gives a cushioning effect when gripping thin, brittle wafers and reduces the risk of cracking from uneven force. Serrated tips grip smooth surfaces and films more steadily but leave tooth marks on wafer surfaces, so check whether surface marks are acceptable when choosing.
