SMC AC60-10CG-2R-D FRL unit

The AC series FRL unit combines an air filter, regulator and lubricator in one assembly, supplying clean, stable and lubricated compressed air to downstream pneumatic equipment.

What is an FRL unit?

FRL stands for Filter, Regulator and Lubricator. Compressed air from a compressor contains moisture, particles and oil mist; fed directly into cylinders or solenoid valves, it accelerates wear. An FRL unit at the start of the line deals with all three.

Installation

PointNote
OrientationBowls facing down, vertical installation
OrderAir supply → filter → regulator → lubricator → downstream equipment
Pressure settingAccording to downstream equipment, typically 0.4–0.6 MPa
Element replacementReplace when pressure drop is too high; inspect every 6–12 months

Selection note: the AC60 suits high-flow main lines (1″ port). For smaller branch lines (1/4″ or 3/8″), choose the AC20 or AC30 series. SMC’s modular design allows each component to be replaced individually. This is general guidance; please confirm for your application.

Maintenance tips

  • Pull the regulator knob up to unlock it (an orange mark shows in the gap), set the pressure, then push it back to lock. Turning it without unlocking can damage the knob and cause outlet pressure drift.
  • Turn the regulator knob by hand only, never with tools, and adjust in the increasing-pressure direction — adjusting downward tends to undershoot the setting. Clockwise increases pressure; counterclockwise decreases it.
  • Replace the filter element every 2 years, or when outlet pressure has dropped by 0.1 MPa from initial use, whichever comes first.
  • Drain water from the filter bowl before it reaches the baffle; water reaching the outlet side can cause downstream equipment to malfunction. Open and close the drain cock by hand.
  • Check the lubricator drip rate daily; use only Class 1 turbine oil ISO VG32 (no additives). Turn the oil adjustment valve by hand — about 3 turns from fully closed to fully open.
  • Inspect resin bowls regularly for cracks or scratches and replace dirty bowls; clean with water and neutral detergent only.
