The feeder motor drives the step feed of the component tape in feeders used on Panasonic NPM and CM series placement machines. When motor torque becomes unstable or the encoder ages, parts are fed out of position, feeds are missed or the feeder shows an error. It is one of the spare parts replaced most often on an SMT line, so plan spares by feeder operating hours.
