Plain weave stainless steel wire mesh comes in SUS304 (general purpose) and SUS316 (for strong acids and alkalis, food and pharmaceutical use), from 16 mesh/inch coarse filtering to 400 mesh/inch fine filtering, in rectangular and round pieces. It resists corrosion and heat and is strong, replacing non-metal screens that wear out, and is used in industrial filtering, lab sieving and replacement equipment screens; sizes can be custom cut.

Choosing the material
- General industrial filtering and guarding: SUS304 (general purpose).
- Strong acids and alkalis, chlorinated environments, food and pharmaceutical contact: SUS316 (contains molybdenum, for corrosive use).

What is the difference between 16 mesh and 400 mesh? Mesh is the number of openings per inch: 16 mesh is for coarse screening and guarding, 400 mesh for fine filtering.
