The Swagelok MS-DMT-6M0 depth marking tool is used to confirm insertion depth before installing 6 mm tubing. Insert the tube fully into the tool and the tool marks a ring on the tube outer wall. When assembling the fitting, the mark should be fully hidden inside the fitting body after the nut is tightened — confirming the tube is inserted deep enough and preventing seal failure and leaks from a tube that is not fully inserted.

Why use a depth marking tool?
The sealing principle of a Swagelok two-ferrule tube fitting requires the tube to bottom against the shoulder inside the fitting body, so the front and back ferrules seat correctly during tightening. If the tube does not reach the bottom (common with blind insertion), the ferrules are still compressed when tightened, but the front ferrule contacts the tube at the wrong position, and the system can easily leak under high pressure or vibration.
