SWAN dissolved oxygen sensor and service parts — choosing the right part number

Covers the Swansensor Oxytrace G sensor and its service kit — common spare parts and maintenance intervals for SWAN AMI systems.

Routine maintenance of the SWAN AMI Oxytrace dissolved oxygen analyzer centers on two parts: the Swansensor Oxytrace G sensor (part no. A-87-212-052) and the sensor service kit (part no. A-87.219.010). The sensor contains a three-electrode system (cathode, anode, guard electrode) and a built-in temperature sensor; the service kit includes a replacement sensor cap, electrolyte bottle and seals. Used together, they keep trace dissolved oxygen measurement in ultrapure water at 0.01 ppb resolution.

AMI Oxytrace system and the role of each part

SWAN Analytische Instrumente AG makes online water quality analyzers. The AMI Oxytrace series is designed for continuous monitoring of trace dissolved oxygen in ultrapure water and is widely used in power plant feedwater circuits, semiconductor fab ultrapure water systems and pharmaceutical water monitoring. The system consists of three main parts: transmitter, sensor and flow cell. The key maintenance parts are the sensor and its service kit.

Common part numbers

SWAN Oxytrace part numbers start with A-87, with different suffixes for different components. The two core parts on this page, plus a common spare from the same series for cross-checking when ordering:

Part no.DescriptionUseReplacement guide
A-87-212-052Swansensor Oxytrace G sensorThree-electrode dissolved oxygen sensor: cathode (gold/platinum), anode (Ag/AgCl), guard electrode and built-in NT5k temperature sensorTypically 2–3 years for the complete sensor, depending on use
A-87.219.010Oxytrace SC service kitReplacement sensor cap (pre-mounted membrane), electrolyte bottle and seals, for maintenance without replacing the whole sensorEvery 6–12 months (depending on water conditions)
A-87.290.050Oxytrace G sensor capSensor cap with pre-mounted membrane and electrolyte bottle, for when only the cap needs replacingSame interval as the service kit

Ordering note: SWAN recommends using only its own spare parts and consumables; other parts may affect measurement accuracy. When ordering, confirm that the sensor cable length (1 m / 5 m / 10 m / 15 m) suits the installation distance.

Oxytrace G sensor technology

The Swansensor Oxytrace G uses the Clark cell (electrochemical oxygen cell) principle with a three-electrode design for trace dissolved oxygen measurement: a cathode (precious metal such as gold or platinum), an anode (Ag/AgCl reference electrode) and a guard electrode (silver guard). The guard electrode speeds up initial stabilization and eliminates zero current, greatly shortening recovery time after maintenance.

Selection summary

AspectKey consideration
ApplicationsPower plant feedwater/condensate, semiconductor ultrapure water, pharmaceutical purified water — all need trace (ppb-level) dissolved oxygen monitoring
Sensor cable lengthChoose 1 m / 5 m / 10 m / 15 m by the distance from the installation point to the transmitter; measure before running cables
Spares strategyKeep 1–2 service kits (A-87.219.010) on hand so maintenance does not wait for parts
Flow cellQV-Flow PMMA (acrylic, with flow meter) for general water; B-Flow SS316L (stainless steel) for high-pressure or corrosive samples
Faraday verificationThe AMI Oxytrace QED version supports automatic verification with a Faraday electrode; check the transmitter version if you need this function
