TC4 is an α+β titanium alloy, typically Ti-6Al-4V, with tensile strength of 895 MPa or more and a density of only 4.4 g/cm³ — a far higher strength-to-weight ratio than structural steel. Thin coil (0.05–0.3 mm) is common for aerospace test skins, medical implant sample cutting and shielding in precision instruments; thick cut sheet (1–10 mm) serves as machining stock and fixture material. It performs well in seawater, hydrochloric acid and most other corrosive media.
Aluminum alloy sizes (all 100 × 100 mm)
| Alloy | Thickness |
|---|---|
| 5052 | 0.05 / 0.1 / 0.2 / 0.3 / 0.5 / 1 / 1.5 / 2 / 3 mm |
| 6061 | 1 / 1.5 / 2 / 3 mm |
| 7075 | 1 / 1.5 / 2 / 3 mm |
- 5052 (Al-Mg): good seawater corrosion resistance and ductility; for bending and structures in corrosive settings.
- 6061 (Al-Mg-Si): balanced hardness and machinability, can be anodized; the general-purpose structural plate.
- 7075 (Al-Zn): tensile strength about 570 MPa; common for aircraft structures and drone frames. Not recommended in strong alkalis.
What drives the price
- Material: titanium and aluminum sit at different price levels. Titanium cannot be reduced directly with carbon; it is made by the batch Kroll process and melted only in vacuum or inert gas.
- Alloy and temper: 5052, 6061 and 7075 differ in composition and strength, and the temper (O / H / T) also affects the price.
- Thickness and form: ultra-thin coil from 0.05 mm is priced by length, cut sheet by the piece.
- Size and quantity: standard cut sizes, other sizes, small lots and full batches are priced differently.
- Raw material market: titanium and aluminum prices follow the raw material market.
For sizes not listed, send the alloy (TC4 / 5052 / 6061 / 7075), temper, thickness × width × length, quantity, and whether you need a material certificate.
FAQ
What is TC4, and how does it differ from pure titanium? TC4 is Ti-6Al-4V (Al 5.5–6.75%, V 3.5–4.5%), with tensile strength of about 900–950 MPa — roughly twice that of pure titanium (about 434 MPa). Choose TC4 for strength, pure titanium for corrosion resistance and formability.
7075 or 6061? 6061-T6 has a tensile strength of about 310 MPa, 7075-T6 about 570 MPa. 7075 is stronger but is generally not recommended for welding and is more sensitive to stress corrosion; for ordinary structures and fixtures 6061-T6 is enough.
