Removes dust from shoe soles at the cleanroom entrance; each layer peels off with one tab.
A tacky mat is placed in the cleanroom entry buffer zone, between the gowning room and the work area. As people walk over it, the adhesive surface picks up dust, sand, hair and other particles from shoe soles, as a last particle barrier before entering the clean area. Even after changing into cleanroom slippers, stepping on a tacky mat once more further lowers the risk of carrying particles in on the soles.

This is a standard tacky mat; no antistatic performance is listed. For a cushioned antistatic mat in front of a workstation, see the ESD anti-fatigue mat. Step on this tacky mat when entering the clean area, then walk to the workstation.
Why easy-tear
With conventional tacky mats you lift each layer by the corner with your fingers, which is awkward with gloves and sticks to the hand. This mat has a tab on the edge of every layer: pull the tab up and the whole layer comes away cleanly, without leaving adhesive on the next layer or sticking to the hand. A change takes about 3 seconds.
How often to change
| Area | Suggested change frequency | When to change |
|---|---|---|
| ISO Class 5–6 cleanroom | Before each shift (most conservative) | When any visible particles stick |
| ISO Class 7–8 cleanroom | After every 10–20 people | When grey areas appear on the surface |
| Electronics and general factories | 1–2 times a day, depending on contamination | When the surface loses obvious tack |
| Office building entrances | Weekly or monthly | By appearance |
Estimating use: in an ISO Class 7 cleanroom with 20 people per shift, changing twice per shift and peeling one layer each time, one 30-layer pad lasts 15 shifts, so one box (10 pads) lasts about 150 shifts (about 3 months). For busy areas, estimate yearly use the same way; larger orders lower the unit price.
Small orders: orders of fewer than 20 pads (two boxes) are folded in half to reduce volume. Light creases or bubbles may appear but do not affect use. To avoid this, order in multiples of 10.
